Cave Run Lake
Cave Run Lake is located in the beautiful and scenic eastern Kentucky mountains near the city of Morehead. Cave Run Lake is also situated at the northern point of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Cave Run Lake is one of the premiere lakes and nature preserves in eastern Kentucky. The lake is 8,270 acres in size.
Cave Run Lake started construction in the late 1960's and was finished in 1974 for flood control of the Licking River valley. The lake is maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Cave Run Lake also has the reputation of being the best Musky lake east of the Mississippi. Cave Run is also an excellent large mouth lake.
